What is "Early Voting"?

“Early Voting” is a general term that indicates a time period in which voters can vote in person prior to the traditional Election Day.  In New Jersey, Early Voting is being held for the first time using new voting equipment.  State law requires “optical-scan voting machines that read hand-marked paper ballots or other voting machines that produce a voter-verifiable paper ballot.”

What is the significance?  The new voting process and equipment will allow voters to verify that their votes are correct.

All Early Voting locations will be open from May 29 – June 2.  The schedule of voting hours is:  Monday – Saturday are 10am to 8pm and Sunday hours are 10 am to 6pm.
